4-Week Beginner 5K Training Plan: Run 5K Without Stopping
Getting ready for your first fun run? Follow this simple 4-week beginner 5K training plan to build endurance, avoid injury, and finish strong.

Beginner's 5K Training Plan: How to Run Your First 5K in 4 Weeks
Crossing the finish line of your first 5-kilometer race is an unforgettable milestone for any new runner. With a structured beginner 5K training plan over 4 weeks, you don't need to sprint from day one. By combining run-walk intervals with gradual mileage progression, your heart, lungs, and leg muscles will adapt smoothly without overuse injuries (Fithub).
Why the 5K Distance Is Perfect for Beginners
Community fun runs—such as the annual 5K events in Rangkasbitung—are designed to be inclusive and welcoming. Five kilometers is long enough to build real cardiovascular fitness yet achievable within 30 to 45 minutes of training 3 times a week.
4-Week Beginner 5K Training Schedule
Train 3 days per week (e.g., Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday morning at Alun-Alun Rangkasbitung or Sport Center Ona) with rest days in between:
